About Jay

Jay Christensen is a recovering journalist.

He spent nearly 20 years as an editor at the Los Angeles Times until a workforce reduction claimed his job in 2008. He previously worked at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, Sacramento Union and Colorado Springs Sun.

His passion for photography grew after leaving the Times. He has chronicled numerous Rose Bowls and Iditarods, traveled throughout Alaska, has been to the furthest points North and South in the U.S. (Barrow, Alaska and the southern tip of Hawaii) and twice downed a Sourtoe Cocktail in Dawson City, Yukon. He recently returned from a trip to Hawaii to shoot the Kilauea eruption.

He currently has an exhibit of Rock ’N’ Roll images at the prestigious Blanden Memorial Art Museum in Fort Dodge, one of the oldest galleries in the State of Iowa.

He splits time between his hometown of Fort Dodge and Sherman Oaks, Calif.
